Reeves Road Flyover intersection update

Auckland Transport (AT) have confirmed that a re-design of the Reeves Road Flyover intersection will include a third lane heading towards Howick, between Ti Rakau Drive and the Flyover.

This is something the local community has asked for since the Flyover first opened in October last year. Early issues with the design were identified as causing increased traffic congestion and longer travel times during the evening peak, and I have been working closely with AT and the Eastern Busway Alliance on a sensible solution.

Final details of the preferred design option will be released to the public within the next 2-3 weeks alongside an expected timeframe for the work to be completed. I will be pushing for construction to begin as soon as possible, to ensure local commuters can take advantage of improved efficiency at this intersection.

The vast majority of commuters in East Auckland use a private vehicle to get to work, so it is important our local road network prioritises efficiency for motorists. The number one concern should be about getting you home as quickly as possible in the evening, and this re-design should help by reducing congestion and improving travel times.

I look forward to sharing further details with you very soon.

East Care hours extended

East Care is now open until 1am!

I know how stressful it can be when something urgent comes up late at night and you’re not sure where to turn. South and East Auckland families now have another trusted place to go when they need care most.

This is exactly what putting patients first looks like - making sure the right services are available at the right time, right here in our community.

It’s all part of National’s plan to fix the basics and build the future.

Out and about in Pakuranga

Last weekend, I joined Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and thousands of locals at the Brit & Euro Classic Car Show at Lloyd Elsmore Park. With more than 1000 cars on display, it is one of the biggest and most exciting events in our community each year. Thank you to the organisers of this event, and congratulations on 10 years - I'm looking forward to the 2027 show!

I was also up in Howick recently collecting for the Heart Foundation NZ’s Big Heart appeal. Thank you to Heart Foundation CEO Clive Nelson for joining me and to all the volunteers across the country supporting the appeal. Wonderful to see everyone’s generosity to this important cause.

Yesterday, around 200 people packed in for the Pakuranga and Botany SuperBlues with Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. Thank you to everyone who came along for a great discussion about the work we are doing to fix the basics and build the future for New Zealand. Always great to see such strong support and engagement from our local community.

And last week, I visited a couple of our wonderful schools, Owairoa Primary and Pakuranga Heights School and met with their respective Principals, Alan McIntyre and Fintan Kelly. We are fortunate to have some of the best schools in the country here in Pakuranga, and it was great to hear positive feedback about our Government's back to basics approach to education.

Thank you for all your support!

Kind regards,

Simeon Brown
