Brewer’s Brief – February

 Cameron’s Column

By Cameron Brewer – MP for Upper Harbour

It’s just nine months until Election 2026 – Saturday, 7 November.

If you want to help as a local volunteer, please let us know. Helping includes attending our events, hosting a wee gathering at home for me to join, handing out flyers, being part of our ‘human hoardings’ efforts closer to the election, helping us put up our big signs, giving a campaign donation, making phone calls, and praying that New Zealand doesn’t get the other lot!

Our local team is energised, and in this the first Brewer’s Brief for 2026, you will see us already well underway, with more local events planned for this first quarter. Please attend what you can. It really helps.

Thank you for all the support you give me personally. It’s going to be a huge year politically, but let’s make sure we also have some fun and friendships only grow.

It has been a tough time for so many Kiwis so far this decade. I really hope 2026 is a positive one for you and your family.

News...

Upper Harbour holds AGM

Upper Harbour is out of the blocks early this year. Our electorate AGM was on on 2 February, with a number of other events scheduled. Congratulations to re-confirmed office holders Stephen Franklin (Chair), Gary Monk (Deputy Chair), and Linda Cooper (Treasurer).

The Upper Harbour electorate committee is very experienced, well connected across Auckland, and most importantly 100% committed to driving National’s Party Vote, as well as ensuring a strong majority for our candidate, who was re-selected to stand late last year.

Meeting with police attracts big crowd

Over 130 locals attended the MP’s law & order meeting in Hobsonville Point, with the Hobsonville Point Residents' Society, Police Area Commander, and Community Patrols of New Zealand present. National has had many successes with law and order over the past couple of years, but there’s still much work to do.

Business Club open

The Upper Harbour Business Club is once again open for annual subscriptions. It’s a key fundraiser and always a lot of fun. Deputy Chair Gary Monk is the convenor. For further information on likely guest speakers, format, timings, and cost, please contact Gary: gary@intersea.co.nz

Brewer interviewed on NBR

Cameron was recently interviewed by the NBR about the work of the Finance & Expenditure select committee, which he chairs. Note: It's behind a paywall.
