Young Pacific Lawyer Angee Nicholas has been selected as National’s candidate in Henderson for the 2026 General Election.
Ms Nicholas grew up in West Auckland, attending Ranui Primary School and St Dominics College. Nicholas was National’s candidate for the former Te Atatū electorate in 2023, missing out by just 131 votes.
“I am honoured to be selected as National’s candidate for Henderson, to help re-elect a National Government that is fixing the basics and building the future,” says Ms Nicholas.
“I know that it’s been a tough few years for those in West Auckland. Labour left New Zealand in a mess by spending too much and focusing on the wrong issues. They are the same team who will make the same mistakes as before, leaving Kiwi families worse off.
“When Labour was last in office, inflation was at 7.3% - a 32-year high. The interest payments on the $120b debt they left behind are enough to build around two new City Rail Link projects every year.
“National is working hard to make life easier for Westies. Stopping wasteful spending has slowed price increases and lowered interest rates, meaning average mortgage repayments for Kiwi families are down by as much as $10,000. National has also provided additional childcare rebates, helping those with young families by up to $240 a fortnight.
“Westies will rightly be asking how the ongoing war in Iran could impact them. National’s careful economic management means that we are in the best position in years to deal with an economic shock like this.
“There is still more work to do but I believe Kiwis are better off with a National Government focused on growing the economy to create jobs, lift wages, and lower price increases.
“I’ll be working hard between now and November 7, meeting as many people as I can to re-elect a National Government and earn the right to represent Henderson as its next National MP.”
