Angee Nicholas

Candidate for Henderson

Angee Nicholas, 32, was born in Rarotonga and moved to New Zealand with her family more than two decades ago. Angee was raised in West Auckland and has spent most of her upbringing in the Henderson electorate, attending Ranui Primary School and St Dominic’s College before gaining a Bachelor of Laws from AUT.

Angee is a young family law barrister, practicing predominantly in the South Auckland courts and was a former in-house lawyer at the Royal Commission Abuse in Care inquiry. As well as her experience in legal practice, Angee worked at Manukau institute of Technology in advocacy and appeals, previously worked in a support role for the former MP Nikki Kaye, a youth worker for West City Youth Trust under 24/7 Youth Work, and supported the running of her family-owned security company.

She is an active member of her community, serving on the school board of her former primary school of Ranui Primary, and is an active player and executive member of her local squash club in Henderson. In 2023, along with many other community leaders, Angee was honoured to be awarded with a ‘Community Hero Award’ for service to the local community during the Auckland Anniversary floods and the cyclone.

Her roots extend further into local community groups. She was active in the pacific community, in 2025 stepping down from her recent role as president of P.A.C.I.F.I.C.A West Auckland which is a branch of P.A.C.I.F.I.C.A Incorporated, an NGO for Pacific women living in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Angee has taught digital skills to Pasifika elders as a TAHA tutor, led youth and young adults in her church community, and supported law students through university clubs and associations. Her community involvement includes participating in events like feeding the homeless, speaking to her desire to make a real difference in people's lives.

She has represented New Zealand abroad as part of a young delegation to Taiwan in 2024 participating in a Study Camp for future leaders from the Indo-Pacific Region.
