Rebuilding the Economy

We’re working hard to rebuild the economy to drive growth and opportunity.

  • Official cash rates have dropped to 2.5% down from a high of 5.5% encouraging business to invest.

  • Introduced Investment Boost enabling businesses to claim an upfront 20% tax deduction on new assets to encourage them to invest, expand, and hire more Kiwis.
  • Introduced Family Boost payments of up to $120 a week to ease childcare costs.
  • Increased rates rebates for seniors.

Boosted tourism

  • Launched an events and tourism investment package to secure large scale events and concerts.
  • Got tourism back near pre-COVID levels creating jobs nationwide.

Opened markets, boosted kiwi jobs and businesses

  • Delivered record trade results and increased trade exports by $12 billion, pumping money directly into our local economy.
  • Created more opportunities for Kiwi exporters by securing a UAE trade deal, completing GCC negotiations, and initiating trade talks with India.
  • Resolved $933 million of non-tariff barriers, helping us reach our goal of doubling the value of exports in 10 years.
  • Early entry into force of the NZ–EU Trade Agreement, boosting goods exported by over $1billion in the first year.
  • Boosted export markets from dairy to tech innovation.

Fast-tracked projects, lowered costs and streamlined consents

  • Launched $7 billion in infrastructure projects in just six months.
  • Streamlined consents to cut compliance costs.
  • Opened NZ to more overseas building products to boost competition, lower costs and reduce product shortages.
  • Started work to completely replace the Resource Management Act with a new consenting regime.

Ended the war on farmers
