Restoring Law and Order
So far, we have:
- Reduced violent crime with 4,000 fewer victims than when we came into Government.
- Reduced ram raids by 85%.
- Reduced serious youth offending by 16%.
- Increased Police patrols.
Cracked down on the gangs
- Banned gang patches in public.
- Given Police the power to issue non-consorting and dispersal orders.
Restored real consequences for crime
- Restoring Three Strikes.
- Capped sentence discounts at 40%.
- Removed repeat discounts for youth and remorse.
- Implemented a sliding scale for early guilty pleas with a maximum sentence discount of 25%.
- Encouraged cumulative sentencing for offences committed while on bail, in custody, or on parole.
