Across Waitaki, people are working hard to build good lives, strong businesses and resilient communities. But there are real pressures too – from the cost of living and access to healthcare, to housing and keeping opportunities here for the next generation.

Having lived and worked in this region all my life, I know the Waitaki region through more than politics. I know its communities, its industries and the people who make it what it is. That experience gives me a strong understanding of both the challenges we face and the opportunities we have ahead of us.

For me, good representation starts with listening. The conversations I have on farms, in businesses, at community events and around our towns keep me grounded in what matters locally and shape the issues I take to Wellington.

My focus is straightforward: fix the basics to help our communities thrive.

That means better access to healthcare closer to home, easing pressure on household budgets, supporting infrastructure and housing, and creating opportunities for young people and families to build their futures here.

It means backing the businesses, employers and tourism operators who create jobs and invest in our towns. And it means standing strongly behind our rural communities. Coming from a farming background, I understand the importance of practical policy that enables our primary sector to remain productive, competitive and sustainable. When farming succeeds, the benefits flow throughout our region.

I don’t believe good representation is about being the loudest voice in the room. It’s about being accessible, earning people’s trust and doing the work required to deliver results.
