It has been a month since I was appointed Minister and what a month it has been!
I have continued to get out and about in the Upper Harbour electorate, engaging with locals and keeping close to the community issues.
It was an honour to again march and lay wreaths on behalf of you all at the local Anzac Day services at Hobsonville and Greenhithe. The Hobsonville RSA is always packed on Anzac Day, with of course, the Whenuapai airbase literally visible from the clubrooms. Thank you to Stephen Franklin for representing me at the War Memorial Hall in Glenfield and laying a wreath.
Another special day was on 1 May. I was delighted to attend the commemoration at the Hobsonville Church & Settlers’ Cemetery to honour several early settlers whose grave sites have recently been identified.
The dedicated and hard-working Preservation Society Committee members have done a magnificent job. Their advocacy and work to protect this invaluable 1875 local church and precious burial site will live on for the generations.
Keep me in touch with local happenings and keep warm and well as we head into winter!

The MP attended the popular community service at Greenhithe and was accompanied by young Richie from Hobsonville School. Richie had won Cameron’s Anzac art competition and so joined the MP in the Hobsonville RSA march and helped lay a wreath. Colonel (Rtd) Stephen Franklin also laid a wreath, representing the electorate at the Glenfield service.
Lest we forget.

It was a very special commemoration at the Hobsonville Church & Settlers’ Cemetery to honour early settlers whose grave sites have recently been identified. Cameron thanked Angela Laurenson for leading it, with the other dedicated Preservation Society Committee members. What's more, Hobsonville School's kapa haka group outdid themselves.

Over 100 locals attended the Upper Harbour Annual Seniors' Morning Tea. Highly respected historian and author, Prof Paul Moon, was a brilliant guest speaker. Volunteers Zora, Jan, and Lesley were busy as usual in the Hobsonville Bowling Club kitchen.

The MP had a wonderful visit from a constituent and Peppie the Pug to celebrate their safe return to New Zealand after the electorate office worked tirelessly with the Ministry for Primary Industries to guarantee Peppie’s safe arrival.

Upper Harbour’s newly appointed Minister fronted his first question at Question Time, speaking on the India Free Trade Agreement -a significant opportunity for Kiwi manufacturers, producers, and small businesses.

Cameron enjoyed an insightful discussion with British Consul-General, Sophie Warner-Fog, in his Hobsonville office. She has a big interest in our growing trade relationship and maximising all the economic opportunities for both our countries.

The MP called a meeting with Auckland Transport and its roading contractor to seek assurances that our local streets are sealed and serviced to the agreed standards. AT has been responsive to residents' calls to sweep up loose chips, with many chipseal repairs identified and scheduled for when the warmer weather returns.

After years of planning and fundraising, the new Marine Centre at Catalina Bay is open. It has plenty of storage for rowing boats and dinghies, while upstairs, a brilliant hospitality opportunity awaits!

New Zealand and India have just signed a once-in-a-generation Free Trade Agreement, leading to more jobs and higher incomes for Kiwis. It eliminates or steeply reduces tariffs on 95% of New Zealand’s exports, with many sectors and products set to significantly benefit.
Three years ago, PM Christopher Luxon said he’d deliver a Free Trade Agreement with India. It’s now signed. Fixing the basics, building the future!

The Government has signed an agreement with Z Energy to secure an additional 90 million litres of diesel to boost New Zealand’s fuel reserves and help shield the country from the global oil shock.
In times like these, being prepared and sticking to our responsible economic approach is how we can best protect New Zealand’s economy.

Cameron announced the appointment of David Boyle as Retirement Commissioner. Mr Boyle has had a strong focus on retirement savings during his extensive experience in the public and private sectors.
