Brewer’s Brief – December
Cameron’s Column
By Cameron Brewer – MP for Upper Harbour
Well, it’s almost a wrap! It has been another busy year in the electorate and in Parliament.
Firstly, thank you for being a supporter of Upper Harbour this year. It is appreciated.
I am well supported by a great team in our Hobsonville office – Alexia, Mariana and Linda – and in Wellington, Billy makes sure I get to my meetings and read the right speech.
Some of you say I’m busy, but that is only enabled by having a committed support crew, and that includes my electorate committee too – ably led by our local chairman, Stephen Franklin.
So, I get to the end of 2025 full of gratitude. It’s a real privilege being the MP of Upper Harbour and I never take the responsibility lightly or for granted. And rest assured, I’m highly energised to get re-selected and re-elected to represent this fantastic part of Auckland in Parliament for another three years.
Personal highlights in Wellington this year include being appointed Chair of the Finance & Expenditure select committee, having my Life Jackets for Children & Young Persons private members’ bill drawn and introduced into Parliament, and putting another member’s bill in the ballot which will rationalise the number of local boards in Auckland.
Local highlights include getting several Ministers and MPs into the electorate, where I never miss the opportunity to show the enormous growth pressures our suburbs are under, and the subsequential infrastructure deficit.
As well as getting the Minister of Education around the table with local principals again, we hosted two small business forums with guest speakers being Minister for Small Business and Manufacturing, Hon Chris Penk, and Auckland Mayor, Wayne Brown.
The office has processed hundreds of cases involving the likes of ACC, MSD, IRD, Health New Zealand, and Immigration New Zealand, not to mention the daily queries we get on Auckland Council, Auckland Transport, and Watercare matters.
Our electorate office at 102c Hobsonville Road is your office. It’s not a National Party office. It’s a taxpayer-funded office for all constituents who we warmly welcome.
At the 2026 election, the Upper Harbour boundaries will change. We lose a part of Wairau Valley, most of Massey, and Royal Heights. We gain Westgate, the ever-growing Northwest retail precinct, Redhills, Whenuapai, Herald Island, Schnapper Rock, and Rosedale.
We’ve got a lot of work to do in 2026, servicing our existing electorate and making ourselves known in the new areas.
Thank you again for your support in 2025, but we’ll need you even more next year.
In the meantime, have a great summer!

Emergency Readiness Network Meets
Natural disasters are real for Upper Harbour. A devastating tornado killed three construction workers building Hobsonville Point Secondary School in 2012. Two people were killed in Wairau Valley during the 2023 Auckland Anniversary floods, with many local homes also red stickered. Cameron recently joined the members of the Auckland NorthWest Community Emergency Readiness Network.

Engine Bay Garden opens its doors
Engine Bay Garden in Hobsonville Point is a great asset in our community, involving local volunteers. Cameron visited their open day and learnt a lot about composting!
