We have a good relationship with police leaders in both the West Auckland and on the North Shore policing districts.
We’re also close to our Minister for Police, Hon Mark Mitchell, who is guest speaker at our Upper Harbour Business Club later this month, with event details at the bottom of this newsletter.
Mark is doing an exceptional job, along with our new Police Commissioner, Richard Chambers, with some early and significant gains already secured in law and order.

We can be proud of the work our local police do every day in our community - making the North Shore and North West of Auckland safer.
In fact, I bring good news locally. Since the serious altercation recently outside Hobsonville Woolworths, where a firearm was allegedly discharged, Waitematā Police have arrested three people.
Last month I was pleased to join the Minister for Police for the launching of Auckland's first suburban beat team, which has begun patrolling the Henderson CBD.
The new seven-person police beat team are squarely focused on increasing police visibility and community engagement, and are already making a difference.
The additional officers join more than 63 police deployed in dedicated beat teams around the country since funding was received in Budget 2024.
All evidence shows that when police are visible and approachable, it not only helps prevent crime but also fosters a sense of safety and community confidence.
I want to also give a shout out to the locals who volunteer for Community Patrols of New Zealand (CPNZ), driving our streets at all hours and reporting any trouble.
It’s great we no longer see gang patches. It’s great we rarely see ram raids, and it’s great our retailers are generally experiencing less intimidation and shoplifting.
In fact, overall, the number of victims of crime has dropped significantly across New Zealand in the past year.
We will continue to crack down on crime, as there’s still much more work to do.
