Banned all gang insignia in public places
and given Police additional tools to disrupt their activities.
Toughened up our sentencing legislation
and capped discounts judges can apply at 40 per cent.
Restored the Three Strikes
to take our worst offenders out of circulation.
Reinstated a total prisoner voting ban
Citizenship brings rights and responsibilities. People who breach those responsibilities to the extent that they are sentenced to jail temporarily lose some of their rights, including the right to vote.
Started clamping and seizing cars of people evading court fines and reparations.
So offenders get the message that they pay the court fine or walk home.
Given victims of sexual violence the power to waive suppression
So their attackers can be named, rather than receive permanent name suppression.
Made stalking a criminal offence punishable by up to five years in prison.
Because for too long, stalkers have got away without facing serious legal consequence.
