PRE-BUDGET ANNOUNCEMENTS
New and improved urgent and after-hours healthcare
We’re making it easier for Kiwis to access urgent care within an hour’s drive of their homes. Expanding urgent and after-hours care is part of National’s plan to ensure all New Zealanders have access to timely, quality healthcare.
Supporting safer communities with Māori Wardens
We are keeping communities safer by boosting support for Māori Wardens. Māori Wardens hold significant mana in our communities and make an important contribution to community safety alongside Police and other groups. We're ensuring they have access to better transport, volunteer training, and administrative coordination to strengthen their community services.
Social Investment Fund to help vulnerable Kiwis
National is improving the lives of vulnerable New Zealanders with a Social Investment Fund that will make carefully targeted investments designed to improve the lives of New Zealanders in need.
Extra maths help for students who need it
We’re turbocharging student achievement in maths by ensuring children who need extra help with maths get the early intervention and targeted support they need to succeed.
Investing in the care system and improving redress for survivors of abuse in state care
The Government will strengthen the care system and improve redress for survivors in Budget 2025, in response to the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care.
Backing teachers: Teacher registrations funded
National is backing New Zealand's teaching workforce by funding teacher registrations and practising certificates. It’s an acknowledgment of the vital role educators play in driving positive change in classrooms.
