Matthew Paul

Candidate for Port Waikato

Matthew Paul is Managing Director of an environmental and landscape consultancy working across residential, infrastructure and local government projects - experience that gives him a practical understanding of how regulations and consenting decisions affect local jobs, investment and household costs.

Matthew grew up in Bombay and later lived in Papakura and Takanini. He attended Rosehill College, completed a Rotary International Exchange year in Denmark, before returning to Pukekohe. He studied horticulture and arboriculture at Wintec, and founded his first arboricultural business in 2008.

Matthew and his wife Stacey are raising their two children locally, and their family is active in the community through sport and schooling. Matthew has coached and managed youth football at Pukekohe AFC and serves as Chair of the Valley School Board of Trustees. He completed an Executive MBA at Massey University in 2025.

Matthew has held local National Party leadership roles including as Port Waikato Electorate Chair. He is also the current Co-Chair of the National Party’s Special Interest Group, the Bluegreens.
