Under National the couple rate of New Zealand Superannuation has increased by more than $7000 a year from $24,062 in 2008 to $31,216 in 2017 – an increase of 29.7 per cent, more than twice the rate of inflation.
With National’s Family Incomes Package 750,000 superannuitants will receive a further increase on April 1 next year on top of their normal annual increase, with the couple rate going up by a further $680.
