One Year of Getting New Zealand Back on Track
One Year of Getting New Zealand Back on Track
This year, our Government has focused on delivering real, tangible results to improve the lives of all New Zealanders.
We’ve tackled the cost of living head-on by reining in wasteful spending and easing financial pressures on families. 83 per cent of New Zealanders are keeping more of their own money thanks to our promise to deliver the first tax relief in 14 years. More than 40,000 households are benefitting from our FamilyBoost initiative, and our reforms to the welfare system are helping young people transition into work. We’ve invested in critical infrastructure, accelerated renewable energy projects, and fast-tracked housing developments, laying the groundwork for long-term economic growth. Growing the economy is how we will create jobs, lift incomes and help New Zealanders get ahead.
In restoring law and order, we’ve equipped Police with stronger tools to combat gang activity, introduced sentencing reforms that prioritise victims, and deployed more frontline officers to make our communities safer. Our new Young Serious Offender framework provides additional pathways to rehabilitate youth offenders while holding them accountable.
We’ve invested record funding into health, enabling better outcomes for New Zealanders. Healthcare reforms are targeting the delivery of faster cancer treatment, shorter ED wait times, and improved access to medicines. With the increased investment in our education system, we’re bringing in structured learning and increasing support for teachers to help students succeed.
In agriculture, housing, transport, and climate change, we are creating sustainable, forward-looking solutions that empower our people and protect our environment. From slashing red tape for farmers to advancing renewable energy and fast-tracking infrastructure projects, we are driving progress across every sector.
