Labour’s fiscal plan unravelling
Labour’s credibility is crumbling by the minute after being forced to issue an embarrassing correction to its fiscal plan, National’s Campaign Chair Simeon Brown says.
“Days after releasing the least credible fiscal plan from a major party in living memory, Labour has been forced to correct a mistake that only adds to the additional $2,263 tax bill they will hit Kiwis with.
“Labour’s fraudulent plan is littered with errors and omissions, and relies on four consecutive Budgets that freeze teachers’ pay and provide no additional funding for schools, police or medicines. Every mistake and every additional dollar, such as the $90 million error pointed out to Labour today, means higher taxes for Kiwi households.
“This election will be tight and the choice could not be clearer.
“It’s either a Labour-led coalition that would squander surpluses, increase debt and hit Kiwi households with nine new taxes costing $2,263 a year, or National with a plan to grow the economy, spend sensibly and pay down debt, with no new taxes so Kiwis can get ahead and build a more secure future.”
