Can you dodge Labour’s tax attacks?
National has launched a new online game challenging Kiwis to outrun the nine new taxes proposed by a Labour-led coalition, National’s Campaign Chair Simeon Brown says.
“Labour is planning to turn New Zealand into a tax obstacle course, where Kiwis will have new taxes coming at them from every direction.
“Sadly, while you can dodge Labour’s taxes in our online game, there’s nowhere to hide from them in real life.
“Labour has more than $18 billion of unexplained spending promises. That means Kiwis are going to be hit with either more taxes, more borrowing, or both.
“Labour’s Capital Gains Tax would hit investors, KiwiSavers and small businesses. Its Business Tax would make it more expensive to invest and grow, while restoring interest deductibility restrictions would push up rents.
“And that is just the beginning.
“Labour’s own taxes still aren’t enough to cover the shortfall against its $18 billion of unexplained spending promises, meaning the tax grabs won’t stop there. Labour will either have to dream up even more taxes or copy the tax policies of its coalition mates in the Greens, Te Pāti Māori and The Opportunity Party.
“National’s tax game will run until 23 September. Whoever has the highest score will be invited to voice one of National’s ads warning Kiwis about the economically destructive impact of Labour’s tax plans.”
