Do you support council funding an anti-NZ flag protest?
Porirua Council, through Pātaka Art + Museum, used ratepayer funds to present an exhibition that included a New Zealand flag with the words “Please walk on me.” They now supply that to other museums like Hastings.
Our flag is more than a physical cloth; it was carried through two World Wars, multiple conflicts and humanitarian operations, flies high at every Olympics, as well as sporting and cultural events. This is our flag and is the only physical embodiment of our nation. There are also laws against writing or damaging it.
Do you think ratepayer funding should be used to support exhibitions of this nature?
I am seeking feedback from across our region so I can accurately reflect local views in discussions with council and other decision-makers.
