Sam Uffindell

MP for Tauranga

Sam Uffindell is the Member of Parliament for Tauranga, elected in 2022. He holds several leadership positions in the New Zealand Parliament, serving as the Chair of the Health Select Committee, chair of the Public Services Commission IST Committee and co-chair of the Africa and Middle East Interparliamentary Friendship Group.

Sam is a graduate of the University of Otago and the University of New South Wales. Before entering politics, he spent fifteen years in international banking across New Zealand, Australia, and Singapore. Sam’s career included senior roles at Macquarie, Westpac, and Deutsche Bank, where he specialised in financial crime prevention. Sam’s Parliamentary and electorate focus areas include health services, economic growth and regional development.

Sam is a strong proponent for democracy, and has lodged a Member’s Bill to ensure every New Zealander has an equal vote in local government elections.

As MP for Tauranga, Sam’s local priorities include better roads, more higher paid jobs, public safety, and housing. He and his wife Julia have three children, and their family enjoys outdoor pursuits at the beach, surf and lake.
