Ryan Hamilton

I’m proud to serve as the Member of Parliament for Hamilton East - the city I’ve called home for nearly 40 years.

Hamilton is where Marie and I have built our lives, our businesses, and our community connections. For more than 20 years, we have been business owners, operating franchises locally and in Tauranga and Auckland. That experience has given us a firsthand understanding of the pressures small businesses face, from rising costs and regulation to finding opportunities to grow and create jobs.

For 16 years, I have also helped bring people together through business networking, helping to grow what is now the Chamber’s Inspire event. I’ve had the privilege of connecting business, sporting and community leaders and seeing the ideas, relationships and opportunities that can emerge when people come together.

In 2010, I completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies at the University of Waikato.

My commitment to Hamilton has also seen me serve as a Hamilton City Councillor, as well as Chair and Trustee of the Hamilton Christian Night Shelter.

In Parliament, I serve as Chair of the Finance and Expenditure Select Committee and as a member of the Environment Select Committee, where I am involved in overseeing the biggest reforms to the Resource Management Act since it was first introduced in 1991.

Hamilton East is one of the fastest-growing communities in New Zealand, with enormous potential. I advocated strongly for a third medical school to be established here, and I was proud to see the National Government deliver New Zealand’s third medical school at the University of Waikato.

As your MP, my focus is simple: to be a strong local voice, champion Hamilton East and deliver practical results for our city and its people.
