Dan Bidois (Ngāti Maniapoto and Ngāpuhi) was born, adopted, and raised in Auckland to working class parents. After dropping out of Howick College at 15 years of age, Dan completed a butchery apprenticeship with Woolworths supermarket. Dan went on to graduate from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) before being awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to attend Harvard University, where he gained a Master of Public Policy in Economics.

Dan is currently an independent management consultant. He was the MP for Northcote from 2018 to 2020. After leaving Parliament, Dan ran his own strategy consultancy.

His earlier career saw him work as a senior executive for Foodstuffs and in economist roles for the OECD in Paris, several economic think-tanks and Deloitte. In addition to his day job, Dan serves on the board of trustees for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Charitable Trust.

Dan is the youngest of four siblings. He is married to Courtney, and they live in Birkenhead with their dog, Mylo.

Northcote is my home and I’m incredibly passionate about seeing this beautiful part of Auckland become the best place to live, work and raise a family
