Hamish Campbell

MP for Ilam

Born and raised in the Ilam electorate Hamish is proud to now serve the electorate as it’s Member of Parliament.

Having attained a PhD in cancer and viruses from Otago University, Hamish had a successful international career as a cancer research scientist before he and his wife, Carol, chose to return to the Ilam Electorate to raise their two young daughters.

His passion to stand for Parliament was driven by his desire to see a strong health and education system that gives everyone a fair chance, along with a genuine consideration for our natural environment.

Outside of work Hamish enjoying running, cooking and spending time with his family.
