I have been back down in Parliament this week and have been working hard to get NZ back on track.
On the Finance Committee this week we have been hearing submissions on the Budget Policy Statement as we work towards the budget release on the 30th of May and on the Primary Production side, we have been hearing submissions about the wool industry as we work toward reviving the industry.
PLEASE SUPPORT OUR BLANKET DRIVE AND DONATE SOME BLANKETS:
We are very pleased to support Christian Lovelink with their blanket drive this year and we are reaching out for blanket donations.
Every year Christian Lovelink gives out approximately 1100 blankets to those in need across Hawke's Bay, with Ian and the team of volunteers working hard to distribute them.
With winter upon us, and the demands for blankets increasing with the cost-of-living crisis, our office is supporting them with their annual blanket drive.
We will be taking blanket donations for the blanket drive and our goal is to collect as many blankets as we can.
The blankets can be dropped off at our office premises - 129 Queen St East, between 9am and 4pm, for the week of May 13. We would be grateful for any blanket donations.
GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCEMENTS:
As a mother of four school-going children it's great to see our government's focus on education priorities which will set Kiwi kids up for future success.
These priorities are focused on lifting achievement and reflect the changes our government has already made in education, including the requirement to teach one hour a day of reading, writing and maths in primary and intermediate school, and the ban of cellphone use in classrooms which came into effect for the first day of Term 2.
Implementing affordable tax relief:
Standing up for the hardworking Kiwis in the Tukituki electorate
Kiwis have done it too tough for too long. We're introducing an affordable and responsible tax package in the Budget to help struggling families.
We are committed to strengthening the economy to reduce the cost of living and ensuring hardworking New Zealanders can keep more of what they earn.
Health, Education and restoring law and order are big focuses for our government.
OUT AND ABOUT:
I visited Kelston Orchards and packhouse in Hastings and many other Horticulture businesses in the last week to get an understanding of the challenges they are facing. Our government is supporting our Primary Sector.
We grow the best produce in the world here in Hawke’s Bay and have so much potential. Our Government plans to double the value of exports in NZ in the next 10 years. Our primary industries will play a big part in achieving this and its vital we reduce red tape and cost that has been inflicted on these industries. I am continuing to work with our Agriculture and Export sector.
