The Blue Machine rolls on! We’ve had a fantastic month as a government, delivering a range of effective policies and doing the hard yards to get New Zealand back on track. The feedback I’m getting from people around Tauranga is overwhelmingly positive. Every day, people stop me on the street to say that our government is doing a great job and to keep it up! It’s incredibly heartening to hear this, and it’s clear that your average person feels better off under our government, with things steadily improving.
Economic Progress
It's fantastic to see the OCR and interest rates starting to come down as well!
In and Around Tauranga:
Here’s a snippet of what I’ve been up to this past month:
NZ Howard League for Penal Reform Celebration: A great opportunity to show my support for a group that delivers excellent outcomes. Learn more here!
Monthly Drop-in Clinic at Greerton Library: I hold these on the first Monday of every month - come and say hello!
Tauranga Boys’ College Super Eights Victory: Watched Tauranga Boys’ College secure a thumping win over Hamilton Boys’ High School.
Priority One Instep Programme: Joined aspiring young leaders in this fantastic initiative.
St JohnTauranga Visit: Checked back in with our life-saving friends at St John.
Ride-Along with Police: Experienced firsthand the work our police do to keep the community safe.
I-MED Radiology Clinic Opening: Attended the opening of this much-needed addition to our region’s health services at Fraser Cove.
Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival: Celebrated in Tauranga with National List MP Nancy Lu, even getting to practice my limited Chinese!
Business Visits: I had the pleasure of visiting several local businesses, including Homeplus, Flowerday Homes, TD Haulage, Hynds, Kiwi Bus Builders, and Chill Traders.
I'd love to visit your business too! If you're interested, please reach out to Emily at [email protected]
Zespri Industry Dinner: Represented the government at the dinner to celebrate the career of outgoing chair Bruce Cameron.
Door-knocking in Greerton and Gate Pa: Connected with local businesses to get a feel for how everyone is doing. I'll be getting around to all business hubs in the Tauranga Electorate, so if you see me, say hello!
Visiting Ministers to Our Region
Minister Andrew Bayly's Visit
Minister Andrew Bayly came to Tauranga, and we had a productive day visiting several manufacturing sites around town. These included Oasis Engineering, Trimax, Winstone Wallboards, and Tui Products. Andrew’s energy and enthusiasm made it an awesome day, and it was great to showcase the innovative work happening right here in our community.
Minister Tama Potaka's Day in Tauranga
Minister Tama Potaka and I had a fantastic day out and about in Tauranga. We started the day with a run up the Mount to get us into the right frame of mind, followed by visits to Manawa Community Trust, several Kainga Ora properties, and Takitimu House. It was an inspiring day, focused on community and housing initiatives.
