What a month it’s been! Just over two weeks ago, New Zealand voted for change, and I was humbled to be elected again as the MP for Selwyn with the most candidate votes and second-highest majority across the country. I will continue to do everything I can to represent everybody who chooses to make this wonderful place home – so, thank you to everyone who put your faith in me!
It goes without saying that I could not have done this alone so I’d like to make special mention to all those who helped our campaign this year. We had a great campaign team and so many volunteers who worked tirelessly to share National's messages - whether that be by delivering fliers, helping to run a stall at a fete, getting on the phones and talking to voters, and everything in between! Thank you everyone who gave up their evenings and weekends to help change the country for the better - my National Party colleagues and I will be working hard over the next weeks, months, and years to get our country back on track!
As the media has reported, our incoming Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has been meeting with the Leaders of ACT and New Zealand First over the last week. However, as you will know, the shape of the next government cannot be known until the Special Votes are released this Friday.
I am confident that these early meetings will lay positive foundations for any coalition agreement that will be made after the final results are known, and will enable us to form a government as soon as possible.
Once that new government is formed, parliament will resume and we will begin work on getting our 100-day plan underway.
In the meantime, I've been out and about in Selwyn. From visiting local businesses to collecting for the Breast Cancer Foundation's annual street appeal, I'm really enjoying spending this time around the electorate while we wait for the Special Votes to come in.
Finally, my team and I are always here to help - whether you need some advice, help with an issue, or just someone to listen! Please do get in touch anytime - all of our contact details are available on our website here: https://nicolagrigg.national.org.nz/contact
Kind regards,
Nicola Grigg
