In 2011 she was elected as the Electorate MP on a recount after an Election Night draw.

Nicky has always been involved in the local community and served on numerous trusts and boards. She has worked extensively with business organisations, in education an elected Environment Canterbury Regional Councillor - serving as Chair of the Finance and Audit Commitee for 2 years and the Transport (busses) Committee for 2 years.

She enjoys going to the gym, and spending time with her husband David and two grown up sons.
