Jono Naylor will be retiring as an MP at the 2017 General Election.
Adrienne Pierce is the National Party Candidate for Palmerston North
Jono was born in Upper Hutt and raised in Wellington, West Auckland and Masterton. He moved to Palmerston North in 1985 to study at Massey University, and following that worked in health, welfare, education and community sectors as a social worker, counsellor, director and manager. In 2001 Jono was elected to the Palmerston North City Council, and served two terms as a councillor, before being elected as Mayor in 2007.
As mayor of Palmerston North he has worked effectively to lift the profile of the city and has worked constructively with others to strengthen economic development, establish a sustainable financial model for the council and improve community spirit.
Jono is committed to the community of Palmerston North that has done so much to support him and his family over the years. He understands the issues and its people and is proud to call it home.
Jono is married to Karen, and they have three children aged 16 to 20. In his spare time Jono enjoys cycling, running, singing and playing music, snow boarding and supporting his children’s interests.
