ANZAC Day in Greenhithe, Hobsonville and Glenfield
It was an honour to be part of the poppy collection and attend ANZAC Day services in Upper Harbour. I joined the Greenhithe and Hobsonville parades, and colleagues laid a wreath at the Glenfield service. Afterwards, it was great to catch up with locals over a drink at the Hobsonville RSA. Upper Harbour remains home to many families with strong military connections, and so it’s not surprising that the Hobsonville RSA raised nearly $50,000 from last year’s poppy collection. Lest we forget.
Afternoon tea in Unsworth Heights
Recently, I enjoyed afternoon tea with my good friends at Highgrove Village & Patrick Ferry House in Unsworth Heights. They are delighted postal services will remain in Glenfield (20 May onwards from Paper Plus in the Glenfield Mall) and that Auckland Transport is responding to their long calls to improve pedestrian and bus stop safety outside their village on Albany Highway.
One of the great things about being a local MP is helping people
Recently my team did a wonderful job ensuring a wee dream of Andy Stevens was achieved. Andy has the debilitating motor neuron disease and kindly took the time to thank us. I’ve also enjoyed meeting many of our school principals, local business leaders, our six Auckland Councillors, and members of the three local boards in Upper Harbour. We’ve got great contacts across government agencies, Auckland Council and Auckland Transport, so please reach out.

It has been a whirlwind seven months as a new MP, but I’m grateful for the level of support I’m getting from my electorate office team, parliamentary colleagues, and many Upper Harbour locals.
Living in the geographical middle of the electorate is helping to keep me in touch with people’s concerns, and please keep them coming.
I appreciate just how tough it is out there. I came from small business and in a previous life ran a business association during the GFC. New Zealand’s economic turnaround is a big job, but this Coalition Government is up for the task and has been legislating at speed. The 30 May Budget will also provide some much-needed direction and help.
My electorate office at 102c Hobsonville Road, next door to the popular Midpoint café, is a welcome place for everyone in the community. No problem, concern or question is too small. I’m getting out and about across Upper Harbour meeting community and sporting organisations, local businesses, educators, volunteers, and our cherished senior citizens.
To be an effective local MP, I welcome all approaches, ideas, and any invitations. My stripe may be blue, but I am working hard to be a good electorate MP for all Upper Harbour locals from Unsworth Heights on the Shore to Massey in the West and everywhere in between.
Recently, we conducted a local survey on Facebook, and will soon release locals’ policy and project priorities. More importantly, I will use those priorities as a guide for where and how my time and energy should be used.
One of the best ways to track what I’m doing on a daily basis is to follow my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CameronBrewerUpperHarbour/
Again, thank you for your support and guidance. I may have worked in Parliament years ago, been an Auckland Councillor, and run small businesses, but as a newbie MP I unapologetically ask for your help as our country navigates through some tricky waters. I want to be well informed, constructive, and a great representative for you and your family.
